Yesterday i finally went to watch 'Black Swan'. And I have to say that even though it was nominated for an almost unreasonable number of Oscars (yet, only won 1 of them), I really liked that movie. Not just the music and dancing scenes, paired with a truly perfect Natalie Portman and her less perfect but sexier counterpart Mila Kunis left me in awe. But also the fact that I was not(i'm repeating: NOT)annoyed by the schizophrenic, psycho part of the movie. There are so many US-american movies out there at the moment which play with this real-unreal-moment, that leaves the audience puzzled as they don't know what is real and what is not. 'Inception' was one of those movies. But in my opinion, in that one, it was quite poorly made, because its intention seemed to be just to actually confuse the audience. (Yawn)
'Black Swan' on the other hand showed that the question of what is real or unreal, is of no matter. Neither is the question of where the metaphor starts and where it ends. And when Natalie Portman/Nina Sayer turns into the actual Black Swan, you as a viewer just have to let it happen and experience that scene and with it the whole movie as a great piece of art, that is open to a whole range of different readings.
